‘Design Your Own Garden’
Coaching and Workshops
Designing a garden is fun, creative and highly stimulating -- and you can be part of it. Set aside some time and come to Goshen (click here for directions) for a hands-on ‘Design Your Own Garden’ coaching session or small group workshop.
Perhaps you have lots of ideas for a new garden but are not quite sure how to ‘put it all together’. Or maybe your garden has been in place for years and now seems lackluster and dated. Whatever your starting point, during our time together we will combine your ideas and personality with my knowledge and expertise. Working together, balancing aesthetics and functionality, short and long term needs, we will arrive at a unique and distinctive design for your garden.
Come with photographs and measurements of your garden as it is now, plus your aspirations and desires. As our time together unfolds, I will offer suggestions and advice for all aspects of your new garden design; anything from creating a spatial design that matches your land, to choosing the best plants for your location. Along the way you will learn valuable landscape design techniques, and by the end you will have a ‘ready to go’ plan for your new garden.
During your time here, you are also welcome to stroll our extensive garden and peruse my library, with its considerable collection of landscape design books.
Coaching
Coaching sessions are for one person, or for two people working together, developing a landscape plan for a single property. I charge just for the amount of time I spend on your project so that, depending on the scope of your project, the overall cost for developing your plan can range from $150 to $450.
Coaching sessions can be scheduled for any mutually convenient time, and are normally completed on a single day.
Workshops
Small group workshops are for three or four people, where each person works on their individual plan. A workshop lasts a total of twelve hours spread over two days. During the course of the workshop I provide personal help with everybody’s plan. Interleaved with working on plans I also provide formal instruction on design techniques.
Every year in the spring I schedule open-enrollment workshops, where the per-person cost (including all supplies) is $200.
Alternatively, if you put together a group of three or four people, I will conduct a workshop for your group. I can run the workshop either here in Goshen or at your location, at any time that is mutually convenient. The price for the entire workshop (including supplies) is $700, plus my normal travel charge of $0.85 per mile if I come to your location.
